In one, a modern boarding school, the children could compare their improved experiences to Bertie’s hardships in a spartan bygone setting. But despite this, The Butterfly Lion managed to resonate equally with the pupils in all three schools. In each school, the children came from very different backgrounds with a wide range of experiences of school, childhood and family life. I’ve taught and read The Butterfly Lion in three very different primary phase schools over the last 20 years. To see the latest price or order, click on the book cover image. About the Book "Aging and reclusive Hollywood movie icon Evelyn Hugo is finally ready to tell the truth about her glamorous and scandalous life. I felt a little badly since I am currently reading a half dozen books and I completely disregarded all others until I finished Shift. When I finally found a copy a few weeks ago, I blazed through it just as quickly as I did its predecessor. Ever since I put Wool down, I have been dying to get my hands on Shift, the prequel and second book in the Silo series. That post encapsulates much of my feelings on Hugh Howey as an author. Look, I'll even give you the link again to make it easy for you - click here to read it.Īre you done? Did you read it? Good. If you have not read my post about that book, I strongly encourage you to go back and do so. Earlier this summer, I read Hugh Howey's Wool. The novel uses several different narrators throughout which I found interesting. Schuyler is a very likeable main character and I am sure many teen girls will be able to relate to her. Slowly, we find out more about this and this keeps the reader interested throughout. Her mother lies in a coma and Schuyler knows little about her family background. She finds out early on that she is a Blue Blood and the novel shows how she comes to terms with this. The main character is Schuyler, who has always felt like a misfit at school. Thought to be immortal, their world is shattered when one of them is found murdered. They're rich, young, beautiful and popular. However Melissa De La Cruz offers an original twist on this topic: the Vampires are known as 'Blue Bloods' and they're part of the New York elite. Summary: A vampire fantasy novel aimed at Teens but entertaining and fast-paced so one for adults as well.īlue Bloods is the first book in a series aimed at teenagers and it's about vampires, currently a popular theme in young adult novels. |
